FOR THE ASIAN AMERICAN COALITION'S 
DINNER CELEBRATION

I am writing to you on behalf of the Asian American Coalition of Chicago to request your sponsorship of the Twenty-Third Asian American Coalition Dinner Celebration to be held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois, on February 25, 2006.  The Celebration is the largest annual event in the Asian Pacific American community in Illinois and is well-attended by community leadership, public officials, and the consular corps.

The Asian American Coalition of Chicago is a not-for-profit Illinois corporation with 501(c)(3) status whose mission is uniting the Asian American community, encouraging understanding of Asian cultural values, and celebrating the role of Asian Americans in our American democracy and economy.  Out theme this year is “Unity in Diversity.”  The Coalition holds forums and conferences, an annual Asian Festival in downtown Chicago, and for twenty-three years has brought Asian Americans together for the Dinner Celebration.  At the first such banquet, Governor James Thompson announced the creation of the Governor’s Asian American Advisory Council.

Our coalition includes Bangladeshi, Cambodian, Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Malaysian, Pakistani, Philippine, Thai and Vietnamese Americans in Illinois. Each year a different Asian community hosts the Dinner Celebration.  For the first time, Indonesia is host of this year’s Celebration.

Sponsoring the Dinner Celebration will give your company exposure to a highly successful, growing, and commercially desirable demographic in a highly visible setting, as well as emphasize your company’s commitment to diversity.  The Asian Pacific American community in Illinois comprises over 473,000 people.  We are the fastest growing racial group in the U.S. (a 49% increase since 1990), and collectively command $344 billion in consumer buying power.  The immigrant experience is part of the making of America, and that experience is reflected today in the growth and success of the Asian Pacific American community.
